St. Elizabeth Seton – St. Vincent de Paul Conference
By Kathy Boeck & Tina Prosenick
Our immediate past president, Tina Prosenick, is an avid player with the Sun City Softball Club and the Angels in the Outfield Club of Sun City. When she learned that her organization was seeking ways to give back to our community, she pointed them in our direction. They together held a “Pitch in” community support drive for those needing help in our city. The group asked for household and personal items for our conference and nonperishable food for Banner Olive Branch Senior Center. Volunteers staffed the collection station and gathered over $2700 in goods and money.
Softball players and their families also created a space for memories and memorials with pavers in the field’s main entrance. Angels in the Outfield ordered and installed etched bricks to express a host of tributes to those who played before them and with them.
Pictured are Angels in the Outfield players, Donna Laufer and Melissa Reglein-Sobczyk, Sun City Softball representative, Pete Laufer, SVDP pantry manager, Elizabeth Gavin, SVDP President, Tom Jennings, and Angels in the Outfield, Judy Ickes.
Our conference is so very pleased to be a recipient of an additional $708 from the “Pitch-In “community drive. We were told that they want to continue helping us in this way in the future. How wonderful to see this special support from our Sun City neighbors!
