Here are a few memories by some of the Hospitality Ministry members…
My thoughts about Fr. Kilian: He recognizes the contribution and the importance of the Hospitality Ministry that serves St. Elizabeth Seton Parish.
In May 2022, my wife & I were visiting various parishes near Sun City West, trying to find a parish that felt alive and welcoming and that had a music program that my wife might be able to join. We found all of these things with St. Elizabeth Seton Parish and Fr. Kilian. I will always remember his mass prior to St. Patrick’s Day when it fell on the following Friday during Lent. He advised us that the bishop had given special dispensation allowing us to eat meat; advising us we could have our Irish meal of Corned Beef & Cabbage if we chose. Fr. Kilian then revealed he would be having steak that day, because after all, “if you have a choice between beef and steak, “steak wins out every time!”
Father Kilian has been an inspiration to my family. When we lost our daughter, he was there for us, and his words brought us comfort as well as helping us to move forward. Our family will always remember his kindness. Fr. Kilian, we extend a very heartfelt Thank You!
One of several fond memories that will stay with me was on a Sunday afternoon when I was on my way to visit with my spouse and Fr. Kilian stopped to talk to me. As I mentioned where I was going, he asked if he could join me. As we sat speaking with my spouse, he asked Fr. Kilian if he wanted to know what he had done the day before. With a smile, father asked him what kind of day he had. The story started with him driving his truck up into the mountains, and as he kept climbing the hills the road got narrower, and suddenly he was falling off the cliff and landing the truck upside down. With still a smile on his face, Father made the comment; “Boy, that must have been quite a trip down – Were you OK?” We all had a chuckle as he enjoyed telling us his adventure.
