SVdP 2nd Annual Fundraiser; Another Great Success!

By Tina Prosenick

On Sunday, February fifth, the St. Vincent De Paul Conference had their second annual chili cook off & dessert auction. There were 27 chili entries and well over 50 desserts to auction off. The silent auction featured 44 themed baskets that were put together by members, parishioners and donors from the community. These baskets earned a great amount of money for the charity. At last counting, SVdP received over $6900, which was well over last year; a good upward trend. There was lots of fun by all, from eating pies, to drinking shared bubbly, to throwing that pie in Fr. Kilian’s face. And this year, Fr. Kilian, auctioned off dinner for ten cooked by him and served by the Vincentian’s. The high bid, $700.00.

All would not be possible without SVdP’s great sporter, “Father Kilian McCaffrey”! He is a champion! As President, Tina Prosenick stated, “I can’t thank our Pastor enough for all of the support he gives to our conference. It was his idea to start this fundraiser in the first place.” Tina stated that this year’s dessert auction was enhanced as the committee listened to the suggestions from those that attended last year. With their recommendations about people not seeing see the desserts when they are auctioned off, we put them on the big overhead screen so each item could be seen as our auctioneer, Mr. Gordon Labat auctioned it off. Gordon did an amazing job for the event! Thank you, Gordon.

A huge “Thank you” to all our Vincentian members for the tireless hours they put in. Thank you to our Ministry groups, Seton Ladies & Catholic Daughters for helping us make this event so successful. Thanks to all who donated, time, talents & treasures! Our “Neighbors in Need” will THRIVE! God bless!
