Court Madonna #2067 will be looking for more members this fall as we regroup and begin a year of service at St Elizabeths. When we approach a good practicing Catholic woman to invite her to join her first questions are, “Who are you, and What do you do?”
Briefly we are a National organization of Catholic women started by the Knights of Columbus.
We are active in St Elizabeths as Eucharistic ministers, lectors, hospitality aides, ushers and members of Seton ladies, St Vincent DePaul, and Holy Spirit prayer group.
Our limited funds and fundraising are donated to the parish as well as seminarians, Sisters of Life, Nazareth House, SVdP, St Mary’s food bank, Valley View food bank, First Way of Maricopa and Az Sunshine Angels.
The National projects Court Madonna contributes to include: Habitat for Humanity, Holy Cross Family Ministries, Laboure Society, National Center on Sexual Exploitation, and SOAR (Save Our Aging Religious).
We also support our National Charities: Apostleship of the Sea, Catholic Extension, Catholic Relief Services, Covenant House, Disaster Relief, Human Life International, Missionaries of Charity, National Shrine of Immaculate Conception, Pontifical North American College, and Tutwiler Clinic.
There is a National CDA website that discusses these National projects and charities.
The local officers are Regent Bernadette Labat, Vice Regent Patricia Essenfeld, Recording Secretary Peggy Countryman, Financial Secretary Peggy Boelke and Treasurer Joyce Nimis.
Our Membership chairwoman is Noemi Serrano. Anyone of these ladies are helpful promoters of Court Madonna.
Our plans for this Fall include helping the Knights with a pot luck dinner after their installation of officers in July. In September we will be kicking off our second annual spaghetti dinner and live auction. In November we attend a Memorial Mass for our deceased members and we hope to begin quarterly corporate Communion celebrations, inviting the Knights to join us.
Welcoming our new pastor, we hope to receive an appointment for a spiritual adviser as well as approval to participate in sponsoring Advent and Lenten retreats in the parish.
All Catholic women over the age of 18 are invited to join us. Ladies up to 18 are invited to join Junior Catholic Daughters who meet at St Claires.
