It’s summer! A time to take a break and rest. For many of you this means closing the house and heading for the hills, to any destination that is cooler than 100 degrees during the day. Often, when calling a friend, I get an answer that he’s not home and the family is on the move somewhere else, enjoying the weather in Flag or up by the Canyon, or fishing in Michigan. Yes, we are a traveling people.
Back here in sunny dry Sun City, the rest of us are living day to day. We swim, recreate, and enjoy our cool AC.
At 75, I continue to be a work-a-holic. It’s just my nature, I guess. But I am not alone, for our writing staff has been hard at work developing some of the best written article’s seen in any online edition.
But before I expand on this issue’s content, I must take a moment to thank two wonderful women who have moved on to other areas and will no longer be with us. They are Louann Edwards and (Jackie) J.C. Vega. Both writers did wonderful work for The Family Seton. In the last issue Jackie wrote about the Lenten Retreat and the Los Angeles Fires which occurred in January of this year. Louann wrote about the soon-to-be first Millennial saint Carlo Acutis and a book review on Rome Sweet Home. We will miss both of them and thank them for sharing their talent and wish both of them success wherever they may land. (After a little coxing, Louann, who has moved to South Carolina to be closer to her grandchildren, promised to be a correspondent writer once she is settled.)
This issue is like every issue, loaded with talented writing, as we meet new personnel within the parish office and the clergy serving our Catholic faith community. Learn about Hank Geerling, our new business manager, and Fr. Bill Fournier, one of our parish’s priests.
Three times a year we are treated to a musical Cantata. What does it take to produce this musical production? The Trifecta is in its third year. How did it start and what does it take to be a success? There are interesting articles in this issue describing the planning of both of these events.
There are twenty main articles in this issue, including a personal piece from Michelle Harvey as she describes her pilgrimage to Rome.
Find an easy chair, settle in, and enjoy our summer issue of The Family Seton.
From all of us who write for you, Happy Reading!
