Meet Virginia Vollmer, New Family Seton Staff Writer

Virginia views herself as an “almost” native of Arizona- her family moved to Phoenix when she was five years old. She received a BA in Humanities from Northern Arizona University and recently retired after 42 years working in accounting. Over the years, the Holy Spirit has led her from a quest for knowledge of faith and spirituality to a thirst to help others on their spiritual journey. Commissioned as a Spiritual Director for the past ten years she works with the Franciscan Renewal Center (The Casa) on retreats and with individuals one-on-one. Experiencing the Franciscan charism at The Casa (the peace and welcoming can be felt as soon as one walks on The Casa’s grounds) led her to the journey of becoming a Secular Franciscan. She professed in 2016 and currently serves as formation director for her fraternity and a contributor to their region’s newsletter.

Virginia transferred to the St. Elizabeth Seton parish in September of 2021. Her mother moved from Flagstaff to Sun City last year. Virginia thought it best to be a member of her parish as well. In the past Virginia had been part of the lector ministry at her previous parish, so she volunteered to join the lector ministry here at SES as soon as she could. Virginia feels that preparing for Sunday’s readings adds a depth of meaning to the Mass as she tries to convey her feelings through the reading. “I will try to do the same as a contributing writer for The Family Seton newsletter”, said Virginia.

Pax et Bonum.
