Welcome to the Spring issue of The Family Seton.
It’s a beautiful time in Arizona these days. Warm, but not too warm, Spring has sprung, and Summer is around the corner. For those who love the heat, well, get prepared, because your time is coming, as the AC bills will confirm.
Can you believe that Fr. Williams Abba has been with us for over one year already? What a faithful priest he is to all of us. With his leadership our humble parish has been jumping with excitement. We are blessed to welcome an increase of five percent more new parishioners now joining our vibrant parish.
And thanks to two long-time parishioners, Hank Geerling and Dorothy Pleth, the positions of full-time Business Manager and Bookkeeper are filled. More on both of them in the next issue. Our 50th anniversary committee with the leadership of Dr. Kathy, has begun preparations for next year’s golden jubilee. Check out her update in this issue.
If you are new to our parish, one thing you will agree with is that we have one of the best choirs in the land. Steve Raml, our Liturgy and Music director works very hard to present great music and wonderful liturgy. Learn more through his column on Ritual Reflections and Musical Musings in this issue and read about the latest Cantata presented in late March.
Besides covering the events of the parish, our talented writers have gone above and beyond to deliver interesting and thought-provoking articles. Our Bishop John Dolan has developed a new ministry, mental health. You will want to read our Spiritual Guide Gladyce Janky’s article on this topic. Also, in this issue we highlight a millennial saint, Blessed Carlo Acutis. And our staff not only wants to develop your faith, we also want to keep you healthy. Read Joan Zombek’s article about exercise in the pool.
As you see we have many talented writers. We also have a wonderful consultant and copy editor; his name is Lou Allocco. We have worked together on newsletters since my first parish. Lou has served on The Family Seton since its inception. He is the backbone of the newsletter. I invite you to read about Lou, someone you should know and appreciate.
There is a lot more to read and enjoy in this issue, so find a comfortable spot, sit back, and enjoy. As Easter approaches, take Jesus from the cross to your heart. He walks with you through your trials and tribulations, and your joys and laughter. He is with you always.
Have a great Spring!
