SVdP Thank You party

Pictured above: It was a Feast! And anyone who was lucky enough to bid on this meal at the SVdP Thank You party was in store for an awesome evening. Thanks to Bill and Liz Quade, (a couple who put their heart and soul into their work for St. Vincent DePaul) ten dinner guests were welcomed to their home for an outstanding dinner. From drinks to lobster and steak, it was truly and outstanding evening. But I believe, once this gets out, the bidding process for next year’s dinner will start at much higher price; as it should.

Deacon Marty & Deacon Sal Attend Annual Deacon Retirees Gathering

From Left: Deacon Marty Pogioli with Wife Barb and Beth Lema with husband, Deacon Sal Lema.

When you reach the age of 75, the bishop of the Diocese of Phoenix honor your service through a Mass and luncheon held in honor of all deacons who have attained that age in the last 12 months. This year the youngster, Deacon Sal along with wife Beth were invited to attend as he made the 75 year mark last October. Past retired deacons are also invited to attend as was the case with Deacon Marty and his wife Barb who celebrated his 75th some four years ago. The retirement status eliminates some annual continuing education hours, but the life of the deacon within their parishes continues to go on and on and on and on…..
