By Deacon Sal Lema
On this, the feast of All Saints, when we remember all our family and friends who have gone before us, we send out to you this issue of the Family Seton. And we celebrate the completion of our first year of success, and move onto our second year of news by and for our parishioners and all who will enjoy this community publication.
Here in Sun City, Arizona as the summer rains subside and the temperatures drop, we welcome our winter visitors as they migrate back to their winter dwellings. It’s time to have fun, to enjoy this great place we live in; and with God by our side all things are possible.
During the summer the parish has worked diligently to prepare for the season ahead while still serving all who were here through our warm period. In this issue you will learn about the latest Vacation Bible School held in July, where almost 40 children enjoyed this year’s fun week. Our staff of gifted and talented people have really stepped it up this summer. Snow birds will want to stop by the offices to see the transformation. There have been updates to the church vestibule as well. You will learn more about these and all the other upgrades coming to the parish in this issue. Do you know Deacon Marty Pogioli? How about Fr. John Slobig? Or Mike Wooldridge, Our Newest Grand Knight? Read about these and other new staff members as well.
There is so much in this issue. We introduce new writers, Virginia Vollmer and Lisa Casiano. Of course, all of our staff of writers, photographers, and editors do excellent work; they belong to the parish and are true professionals, donating their time and talents for this ministry. I would say… we are blessed!
A new ministry, Evangelization, hits the streets. See Sr. Mary’s outreach efforts. Also in this issue you will find great book reviews and suggested books for your reading pleasure, along with Our Saint of the Issue, coming Parish Mission, A look at Advent, the Christmas Cantata and so much more.
So, grab a cup or glass of your favorite brew, grab your easy chair, and enjoy all the news according to The Family Seton.
